Love is a risk. Sometimes, it comes with great heartache. Each of us must determine the choice of loving. I am glad I make this choice. We must also remember no length of life is wasted if "In Christ". Why do we think God wants to populate heaven with all old people?(I'm willing to wait a bit longer. Mel, a volunteer said, "Don't die anytime soon." I replied, "Somebody, would have to step up").

In kind and loving memory of Books for Soldiers, Sgt. Will Mock KIA whose words often encourage me. We all miss you Will. In Will's CNN interview he was asked why he fought:

"I  asked my Grandpa about Why he fought in WWII. He said, "Because Somebody, has to do it. I guess, I'm that Somebody." "I guess, I'm that Somebody".

Each of us have a purpose and calling in life. Find what it is that you are that "Somebody" and do it!

Nomination Letter for Heroes Among Us Award written by Operation Spirit's Director for Books for Soldiers Founder:

Greetings to Heroes Among Us,
When the war in Iraq started I knew I was going to help support our troops. I started searching for a way to really help support our troops. I found this great website called Books For Soldiers started by Storm Williams. Storm's original idea came for this site back when his friend was serving during Desert Storm and he sent him books that were well received. When America once again went to war so did Storm Williams through his concept and vision of a website where our troops and patriots could fight together through troops requesting support, often shyly and hesitant, at first. We have been honored as citizens and patriots by our troops letting us support them often through email, cards, letters, phone calls, books, DVDs, Cd's, Holiday supplies, humanitarian aid, supporting our wounded, even often meeting our soldiers! We send out love, laughter and support to them many who have no support only those they have found through Books For Soldiers.
Books for Soldiers has made Heroes out of ordinary citizens like me to our military serving so far away from home, family and friends. It has made us safely here at home realize how much our military and their families, truly sacrifice for us. Storm's dream and vision has brought a spectrum of people from across this country together as a family that probably outside of Books For Soldiers would never exist. It has made us better citizens and patriots daily, not just on the Red, White and Blue Holidays when it is easy. I always believed one person could make a difference even when the world daily tells us different. Storm through the Books for Soldiers family has reminded me of it. I in turn have passed it on to my community through involving local groups of churches, Boy and Girl Scout Troops, people on the street and well pretty much anywhere I go. Recently, I received my non profit paperwork for the ministry that grew from finding a website called Books For Soldiers. I hope to be able to centralize community troop support where anyone can come to seek help for their military member or donate their time or items to be sent for our troops. I was encouraged by several of the Books For Soldiers Volunteers to pursue my vision. Books has made family and friends out of many volunteers and Airman, Marine,Soldiers and Sailors.
Storm really is a true American Hero because in his quest for supporting our troops he has really made Heroes of ordinary people and has let us ordinary people become extraordinary people to the Real Heroes, our Troops. Storm is the guy that stays up to turn out the porch light after everyone is home.

Grace & Peace

Who We Are

Operations Spirit Inc. is made up of Patriotic volunteers who believe it is important that our Troops understand we have not forgotten them or their mission. The Troop support ministry continued to grow until Melodie's case of NEPS (never ending pile syndrome) in her home required somewhere to centralize area troop support.

Board members have supported our Director by helping spiritually, financially and with moral support. All Board Members are dedicated to their families, churches and the community.
